José Manuel Bahamonde
Soy un cinefotógrafo mexicano basado entre Madrid, Barcelona y Ciudad de México.
Estudié la Licenciatura en Comunicación en la Escuela de Comunicación de la Universidad Panamericana, posteriormente ingresé al Máster de Dirección de Fotografía en la Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC) en Barcelona.
Después de mi tiempo en Barcelona estudiando mi Máster en ESCAC, pasé un año en Bucarest trabajando en Kodak Cinelabs Rumanía, donde me capacité en diversos flujos de trabajo de postproducción, incluyendo técnicas analógicas para producciones en 35mm, 16mm y digital.
Algunos de los cortometrajes en los que he colaborado como Director de Fotografía han formado parte de las selecciones oficiales de diferentes festivales internacionales de cine, como: Guanajuato International Film Festival (Clasificador al Óscar), Feratum Film Festival, o Penitente. En el ámbito publicitario cuento con experiencia fotografiando campañas digitales con clientes como Samsung, Unilever, Pepsico, Cartier, entre otros, así como la serie de televisión: "LOL: Last One Laughing - México (Temporada 6 y 7)", uno de los shows más vistos en Amazon Prime Video Latinoamérica.
Como operador de cámara destaca mi trabajo en Tardes de Soledad (2025) del director catalán Albert Serra, ganadora de la Concha de Oro por mejor película en el Festival de Cine de San Sebastián y el documental Cuando Se Giran las Sombras (postproducción).
De igual manera como técnico del departamento de cámara he trabajado en múltiples largometrajes internacionales en los cuales destacan All we cannot see (2025), selección oficial del Festival de Tribeca 2025, The Strangers Chapter 1, 2 & 3, y Afterburn (próxima a estrenarse en 2025).
Mi pasión por contar historias con el uso de imágenes me ha llevado a publicar en revistas reconocidas a nivel internacional como VICE Latinoamérica. Medios como Rolling Stone México, Buzzfeed News o El Economista, han publicado mi trabajo en distintas ocasiones.
He sido premiado por Lo Hecho En México, en su concurso "La Ruta" y por VICE MÉXICO en el certamen "Personajes de ciudad", fui finalista al Caracol de Plata por el spot televisivo "Sí al trabajo decente" (Turégano, 2019), en el que colaboré como Director de Fotografía.
I am a Mexican cinematographer based between Madrid, Barcelona, and Mexico City.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the School of Communication at Universidad Panamericana. Subsequently, I completed a Master’s in Cinematography at the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC) in Barcelona.
After my time in Barcelona pursuing my Master’s at ESCAC, I spent a year in Bucharest working at Kodak Cinelabs Romania, where I trained in various post-production workflows, including analog techniques for 35mm, 16mm, and digital productions.
Several short films in which I have collaborated as Director of Photography have been selected for official competition at international film festivals such as the Guanajuato International Film Festival (an Oscar-qualifying festival), Feratum Film Festival, and Penitente. In the advertising field, I have experience photographing digital campaigns for clients such as Samsung, Unilever, Pepsico, Cartier, among others, as well as the television series “LOL: Last One Laughing – México (Seasons 6 and 7)”, one of the most-watched shows on Amazon Prime Video Latin America.
As a camera operator, my work includes “Tardes de Soledad” (2025) directed by Catalan filmmaker Albert Serra, which won the Golden Shell for Best Film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, and the documentary “Cuando Se Giran las Sombras” (currently in post-production).
Additionally, as a camera department technician, I have worked on multiple international feature films, including “All We Cannot See” (2025), official selection at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, “The Strangers Chapter 1, 2 & 3”, and “Afterburn” (to be released in 2025).
My passion for storytelling through images has led me to publish in internationally renowned magazines such as VICE Latin America. My work has also been featured by outlets including Rolling Stone México, Buzzfeed News, and El Economista.
I have received awards from Lo Hecho En México in their “La Ruta” competition and from VICE MÉXICO in the “Personajes de ciudad” contest. I was also a finalist for the Caracol de Plata for the television spot “Sí al trabajo decente” (Turégano, 2019), in which I collaborated as Director of Photography.
